What qualifications do I need to join the Faculty of Homeopathy?
You must be a statutorily registered healthcare professional. If you live outside of the UK you must hold qualifications which are registrable with the relevant professional body in the UK (for example the General Medical Council for doctors). Student membership is open to undergraduates on courses leading to certain professional qualifications. For more information please visit our membership section.

I have a BHMS or DHMS, can I join the Faculty of Homeopathy?
At the moment the BHMS and DHMS qualifications are not registrable with the General Medical Council (GMC) and so BHMS and DHMS qualified doctors are not eligible to join the Faculty.

Where can I get information about Faculty of Homeopathy exams?
For exam dates, deadlines for applications, application forms and guidelines please visit the exams section of this website or contact the Education & Web Administration Officer Lisa Peacock on +44(0)1582 408676 weekdays between 9.00am-5.00pm.

Is there a discount available on membership fees?
For someone whose earnings were less than £20,000 per annum in 2008 there is a £10 concession available on the Associate membership fee, a £15 concession on the Licenced Associate fee and a £30 concession on the MFHom fee and Specialist Register fee.  Specialist Registrants also have the option of splitting their payments into two payments a year.

What are the Faculty's qualifications and what do they mean?
Associate membership is open to all statutorily registered healthcare professionals and is not a qualification. Members who have achieved a basic level of training in homeopathy hold the LFHom. In podiatry and pharmacy, more experienced homeopaths may have achieved the DFHom qualification. Holders of the MFHom and FFHom are the most experienced Faculty members who have completed an advanced level of training.  Some MFHom and FFHom members are also members of the Specialist Register.  Faculty qualifications are only valid if the holder of the qualification maintains their Faculty membership. For more information visit our membership section.

If I get Faculty qualifications can I practise as a homeopath?
The Faculty of Homeopathy’s qualifications are for statutorily registered healthcare professionals. Faculty members integrate homeopathy with their conventional medical practice. If you want to practise homeopathy and you are not a statutorily registered healthcare professional contact the Society of Homeopaths

Can I do your exams without Faculty-accredited training?
We advise you to complete Faculty-accredited training before attempting the exams. However, if you feel you have equivalent experience and would like to take an exam without training or apply for a qualification without examination, apply directly to the Faculty Academic Office.

Where can I go to get Faculty-accredited training?
The Faculty has teaching taking place in Aberdeen, Bristol, Glasgow, York and London in the UK, and overseas in Australia, Canada, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Russia and South Africa.  To find contact details visit our teaching centres section.

Is there a bursary or funding available to help pay for my Faculty course fees?
The Nelson Barcapel bursary is available every year for students who have completed the first year of their Faculty-accredited training. The bursaries are made available to help students complete their training so they can attain the DFHom or MFHom qualification.  In addition there are bursaries available for first year students though these may not be available every academic year.  More information is available on our bursaries page.

What are the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements that I need to fulfil to maintain my Faculty membership?
LFHoms in the UK and Republic of Ireland must complete 6 hours attendance-based learning and 10 hours self-directed learning annually. DFHoms, MFHoms and FFHoms must complete 12 hours attendance-based learning and 20 hours self-directed learning annually. The CPD requirements are the same if you are retired and still see patients for homeopathy, even if it is infrequently. Student members, Associate members or members outside the UK and Ireland do not need to fulfil CPD requirements to maintain their membership. The Faculty arranges CPD seminars at a variety of locations in the UK and every two years the British Homeopathic Congress takes place over three days, giving ample opportunity for CPD credits. See our events section for more information about upcoming events.
