Faculty welcomes ASA announcement
17 March 2011
The Faculty of Homeopathy along with other homeopathic organisations such as the Society of Homeopaths, welcomes the Advertising Standards Agency’s (ASA) announcement to set up a project to look into the evidence base for the efficacy of homeopathic medicine.
There is a growing body of evidence in homeopathy and the Faculty looks forward to engaging the ASA and discussing advertising guidelines that are appropriate across the sector.
In a statement the ASA said it had decided to undertake a project to look into efficacy claims for homeopathy in general.
“This means that we will not be conducting individual investigations into each advertiser’s marketing material, but the conclusions we reach will form the basis of guidance to all practitioners and may be enforced with the cooperation and collaboration of the representative trade bodies working with the ASA’s compliance teams to bring everyone into line with the requirements of the Advertising Code.”
