Membership benefits

Homeopathy journal

The Faculty publishes the leading international journal of homeopathy, now listed on Index Medicus and Medline. The journal is sent free to all members every quarter and is also available online at no extra cost to Faculty members. Previously known as the British Homeopathic Journal.

Simile newsletter

Keep in touch with your Faculty colleagues through our members’ newsletter, published quarterly and mailed with Homeopathy journal. Simile includes the latest news from the Faculty and the wider homeopathic community, useful case studies, an update on the newest research, comment from members, details of upcoming events, and reports from international conferences and gatherings.

Members are encouraged to submit articles and items of interest. Contributions should be emailed to simile@facultyofhomeopathy.org for consideration.

Web resources

Membership for holders of the LFHom and above includes access to a password protected area of the website where visitors can take part in the discussion forum, search for colleagues, sign up for e-news bulletins, view local group web pages and get access to a range of resources exclusive to members.

Members can submit changes to their personal details online and opt to be included in the 'Find a practitioner' search on the British Homeopathic Association’s website which promotes homeopathy to the general public. The search receives tens of thousands of hits a year.

British Homeopathic Library and Hom-Inform Database

The British Homeopathic Library based at Glasgow Homoeopathic Hospital is the most comprehensive collection of books, journals and audio tapes on homeopathy in the UK. All Faculty members are automatically enrolled as members and may use its services at substantially reduced rates.

The Library also provides online access to its Hom-Inform database, containing 26,000 indexed references to homeopathic literature: http://hominform.soutron.com/

Local group network

A network of local groups throughout the UK and Republic of Ireland provide opportunities for CPD and the chance to make contact with other members either socially or to share experiences. Local groups receive a small rebate from each member's subscription to support their activities so it's worth getting involved!

Events

The Faculty runs a regular programme of CPD seminars and a bi-annual conference, the British Homeopathic Congress. Invitations to all events are included in Simile. To find out what's coming up visit the events section.

Promotional materials

Resource packs
The Faculty publishes a number of resource packs (one aimed at persuading the NHS to fund more homeopathy; one specifically for GPs wanting to understand more about homeopathy; one aimed at helping private practitioners build their practice and one specifically for dental homeopathy).

Presentations
We can provide Powerpoint presentations, both for giving introductory talks to other healthcare professionals and to members of the public on homeopathy.

Leaflets
We regularly provide Faculty members with leaflets and guides for their surgeries on request, including What is Homeopathy? leaflets and a patient guide, How to obtain homeopathic treatment on the NHS. These are published by the British Homeopathic Association and a form for requesting these is regularly included in issues of Simile, the members' newsletter. Each year we participate in Homeopathy Awareness Week (14-21 June) and encourage members to make the most of this promotional opportunity. We can provide special posters and flyers for the week.

Corporate membership of international homeopathic organisations

Members and Fellows receive corporate membership of the leading international homeopathic body Liga Medicorum Homoeopathica Internationalis (LIGA) and of the European Committee for Homeopathy (ECH). The Faculty is represented at the highest levels in both these organisations and plays an active part in the international community.

Research

In an initiative funded by the British Homeopathic Association, we are building a culture of research within the Faculty's membership. The BHA's Research Development Adviser Dr Robert Mathie is pleased to offer guidance and support for members developing research protocols and grant proposals. He can also facilitate collaborative effort with other Faculty colleagues and/or with researchers based in university departments.
