Membership benefits
1. Representation
The Faculty of Homeopathy, incorporated by an Act of Parliament in 1950, is composed of dentists, doctors, nurses, midwives, osteopaths, pharmacists, podiatrists and veterinary surgeons who integrate homeopathy into their practice. The Faculty represents the interests of these members and offers professional support. This includes national and international representation through meetings, consultations and media appearances and developing dialogue with governing, educational, registration and funding bodies. The Faculty has developed tools and resources to support members in a wide variety of ways including advice on setting up in private practice, help in understanding CPD and revalidation schemes, understanding the politics of the NHS and what it means to members, as well as providing bespoke support for individual situations.
2. Promote your practice on the BHA website
Members of the Faculty who are LFHom level and above can elect to have their practice(s) included in the British Homeopathic Association practitioner directory. The directory had over 70,000 searches in 2010-11.
3. Homeopathy journal
The Faculty publishes the leading international journal of homeopathy, listed on Index Medicus and Medline. The journal is sent free to all members every quarter and is also available online at no extra cost to Faculty members. Previously known as the British Homeopathic Journal.
4. Simile newsletter
Keep in touch with your Faculty colleagues through our members’ newsletter which includes the latest news from the Faculty and the wider homeopathic community, useful case studies, an update on the newest research, details of upcoming events, and reports from international conferences and gatherings.
5. Web resources
Membership for holders of the LFHom and above includes access to a password protected area of the website where visitors can take part in the discussion forum and get access to a range of resources exclusive to members.
6. Local group network
A network of local groups throughout the UK and Republic of Ireland provide opportunities for CPD and the chance to make contact with other members either socially or to share experiences.
7. Events
The Faculty runs a regular programme of CPD seminars and a bi-annual conference, the British Homeopathic Congress – all members of the Faculty are entitled to a discounted rate for the Congress. To find out what's coming up visit the events section.
8. Research
In an initiative funded by the British Homeopathic Association, we are building a culture of research within the Faculty's membership. The BHA's Research Development Adviser Dr Robert Mathie is pleased to offer guidance and support for members developing research protocols and grant proposals. He can also facilitate collaborative effort with other Faculty colleagues and/or with researchers based in university departments.
9. Presentations
We can provide PowerPoint presentations, both for giving introductory talks to other healthcare professionals and to members of the public on homeopathy.
10. Information Leaflets
We regularly provide Faculty members with leaflets and guides for their surgeries on request, including What is Homeopathy?, Homeopathy on the NHS, Homeopathy for Animals and Homeopathy and Dental Care. These are published by the British Homeopathic Association. Each year we participate in Homeopathy Awareness Week (14-21 June) and encourage members to make the most of this promotional opportunity.
11. Corporate membership of international homeopathic organisations
Members and Fellows receive corporate membership of the leading international homeopathic body Liga Medicorum Homoeopathica Internationalis (LIGA) and of the European Committee for Homeopathy (ECH). The Faculty is represented at the highest levels in both these organisations and plays an active part in the international community.
