Professor Ashley Ross is Emeritus Professor and former Head of the Department of Homoeopathy at Durban University of Technology, Durban, South Africa.
He has practised Homeopathy and taught homeopathic philosophy and materia medica for 31 years, as well as engaging in clinical and research supervision. In addition, he has delivered lectures and seminars online and in 4 countries, presented research papers at Congresses in 16 countries, and currently reviews for 7 international medical journals. He is a Sub-Editor of the International Journal of High-dilution Research (IJHDR) and an internationally regarded expert in the field of homeopathic provings.
He served as the representative for Homeopathy on the Allied Health Professions Council of South Africa (AHPCSA) for 10 years, and thereafter as a representative for Homeopathy on the AHPCSA Professional Board for Homeopathy, Naturopathy and Phytotherapy.
Until recently, he was both the Secretary for Research of the Liga Medicorum Homoeopathica Internationalis and a Trustee of the Homeopathy Research Institute (HRI).
He has recently relocated to Baden-Baden, Germany, to take up the role of Homeopathic Scientific Liaison at Biologische Heilmittel Heel.
He retains membership of the Sub-committee: Provings of the European Committee for Homeopathy, the Scientific Advisory Committee of HRI and his involvement in a range of homeopathic educational, scientific and political groupings.
William Kadleigh Memorial Lecture
During the opening session of the Congress on Friday 20th November 2026, Professor Ross will deliver the biennial William Kadleigh Memorial Lecture, entitled "What are we handing on? Homeopathy, Evidence, and the Courage to Question".
In honour of Dr William Kadleigh, this presentation will be both a celebration and a challenge: a call to preserve what remains vital, relinquish what can no longer be defended, and cultivate a profession confident enough to question itself. It will also ask what kind of thinkers future practitioners should become. Professor Ross will propose that the responsibility of the present generation is not simply to hand Homeopathy on, but to hand it on better.
Following Dr William Kadleigh's tragic death in the Staines Air Disaster in 1972, the William Kadleigh Memorial Fund was set up by his parents to help other young Doctors to study Homeopathy. This fund has now been extended to create a lasting legacy by supporting leading Homeopathic speakers to deliver a biennial William Kadleigh Memorial Lecture.
The inaugural William Kadleigh Memorial Lecture was delivered at the Faculty of Homeopathy Congress in 2024 by Dr Lisa Amerine, President of the American Institute of Homeopathy.
