My introduction to homœopathy came quite unexpectedly in the remote Kimberley region of Western Australia. I was browsing a health food shop looking for a supplement when a tiny woman suddenly popped her head up from behind a shelf and insisted—rather vocally—that I needed a particular remedy. Not long after, I consulted with a GP who was also a homœopath. At the time, I shamefully admit, I ignored their advice.
A year later,
while in the UK, a health shop assistant suggested Arsenicum album for my hayfever. I told her, in no uncertain terms, that I was not taking poison! But she
gently coaxed me into trying it—and within mere doses, I experienced profound
relief. That was the beginning of a lifelong love affair with homœopathy.
At that time,
I was already working as a remote area nurse and training in herbalism, as well
as studying organic farming and gardening. Once I completed that course, I
enrolled in the only Australian program I could find that offered both
homœopathic foundations and remedy formulation.
My background in clinical
consulting through nursing made the transition into homœopathic practice feel
like a natural next step.
That was 38 years ago.
Since then, I
have studied clinical acupuncture and a number of complementary modalities to
help me better understand the complexity of my patients. I eventually left
private practice to homeschool my daughters and pursued work as a research
transcriptionist and freelance ghostwriter. During that time, I also authored
one of Australia’s homœopathic degree programs.
In 2020, I
returned to practice, and upon becoming a member of the Faculty of Homeopathy, I felt as though the
door to my true path reopened. Being welcomed into such a prestigious and
globally connected association was an honour—and it renewed my hope for the
future of our modality.
Though
classically trained, my approach today is integrative and layered -
contemporary. I draw on my nursing foundation, and incorporate iridology,
tongue and nail diagnosis, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Western herbalism,
natural pH-based nutrition, and what I call the Edenic Lifestyle—a model of vibrant, regenerative
living. My guiding principle is thrival, not survival. I continue to
mentor healers from all walks of life – nurses who are at a crossroads, as well
as homœopathic students.
Currently, I am completing my dissertation for a
Doctorate of Professional Studies and preparing to submit my paper to the
Faculty in application for MFHom status.
For me,
homœopathy is not just part of my work—it is a calling. It is woven into the fabric of
my life. I am deeply grateful to Dr. Samuel Hahnemann and Mélanie Hahnemann and their visionary contemporaries,
and every homœopath I’ve encountered—across generations and continents—who have
helped shape this extraordinary path
