How did you start your journey in Homeopathy?

I was introduced to homeopathy by a naturopath who treated me for an allergy to chlorine. This remedy worked instantly and I became curious. I then dabbled with a Helios first aid kit for a few years which work wonders. I found the magic of homeopathy. I became a homeopath, in part as I could find a homeopath that could find my constitutional remedy. Originally, I studied to become a human  homeopath as there were too few courses for animals. I treated humans originally but then incorporated homeopathy into my veterinary work. This has been the most rewarding journey as animals are easily treated once you get the hang of it. I find having studied both humans and animals gives me more insight into both worlds.

I love homeopathy and I wish there was more knowledge of it in the world as modern medicine falls short in many ways in arriving at true health.

How do you integrate Homeopathy into your Practice?

I am an emergency veterinarian and also run an holistic mobile clinic.

My advantage as a vet is that I know what disease process is going on in the patient.

I work with the wishes of the owner as to whether they would like conventional , holistic or both treatments for their pets. Often, I am allowed to try homeopathy as well these days. To introduce people to homeopathy with their animals, I will often, at first instance, just use first  aid remedies to show my clients how it works and to show them small successes. It often will tweak their interest and this wins me their trust to have a consultation around finding their pets constitutional remedy. Often I find the remedy and it is true magic. The owners appreciate this but I am not sure they understand the extent of the magic. As their knowledge of homeopathy is little.

When modern medicine and surgery is required, I use it, sometimes in conjunction with homeopathy. Diagnostics are super important – so I use my full veterinary repertoire to arrive at a diagnosis and then treat as required at the time. Sometimes, I see a case and I know the remedy and wish I could prescribe it but not all owners are open to holistic care.

Infrequently I also use herbs, TCM and essential oils along with good nutrition and behaviour work. Nothing works as well as a well chosen remedy but equally good foundations such as good nutrition and a good environment including adequate exercise is a must to arrive at vibrant health.
