How did you start your journey in Homeopathy practice?

When I began naturopathic medical school I was initially skeptical of homœopathy because it seemed unusual. In fact, I was more interested in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and acupuncture. At that time I was already 2 years into a 4 year masters degree program in acupuncture.

When I was in my 3rd year of ND school, I had my first homœopathic materia medica course. At the time, I was experiencing very intense rib pain (costochondritis) that had failed to resolve with conservative care. After class one day, I approached the professor, Dr. Eric Udell, ND and asked him if my pain could be helped by homœopathy. He recommended that I come to see him in the clinic and after treating me with Belladonna 30c, the pain that I had been having for weeks, magically went away. I thought to myself, “I have to learn homœopathy!”.

Towards the latter half of my 3rd year of naturopathic school, I was assigned to be on my first homœopathic rotation with Dr. Stephen Messer, ND, DHANP. I recall one of the first cases I saw of a man with very long standing chronic idiopathic urticaria (hives with no known cause). The hives were better with warm applications and after he exercised. The prescription was straightforward as Sepia was indicated. The man’s chronic hives seemingly miraculously went away within about a month’s time. I remember at that moment falling in love with homœopathy. I got “bit by the bug” so to speak.

From that time on, I became a ravenous student of homœopathy. I sat in on as many homœopathy clinical rotations as I could, even if I didn’t receive credit for the hours. I decided that acupuncture and homœopathy were both amazing systems of medicine that would likely take a lifetime each to master.

Because I had fallen in love with homœopathy, I decided to quit my masters program in acupuncture and focus solely on homœopathy. It was similar stories of seeing homœopathy work so safely, gently, and efficiently in both myself and in patients, that then led me to pursue a career focused on this elegant and beautiful system of medicine.

How do you integrate Homeopathy in your professional practice?

I have a telehealth practice focused on helping children with developmental disorders, especially Autism Spectrum Disorders with homœopathy.
