How did you start your journey in medical Homeopathy?

I was studying for a certificate in veterinary dermatology and was completely disconcerted by the need to learn a myriad of different named conditions that would, with just a few exceptions, all be treated with the same limited palate of pharmaceuticals.  In parallel I was very conscious of the fact that owners would give me all manner of specific pieces of information about a patient’s symptoms that I could make no use of when considering standard generic treatment protocols. I knew at this point that there had to be something more.  By pure chance I then took up a position with veterinary surgeon and homeopath John Saxton and the rest is history.

How do you integrate Homeopathy in your professional practice?

Homeopathic philosophy and training completely changes a clinicians understanding of health and disease such that in my practice every case is seen through the lens of a homeopath.  This means that even if I surgically remove a tumour or prescribe a course of antibiotics, the consequences of those actions have a very different meaning compared to when I was only conventionally trained.  Excellence in diagnostics, nutrition, lifestyle and environmental management go alongside any homeopathic medicine prescription, with pharmaceuticals integrated if they are appropriate and necessary.  Integrating homeopathy into professional practice is easy if as clinicians we truly ‘know what is to be cured in disease’, something that the founder of homeopathy understood but may not be quite as easy it sounds.
